Yogesh Ramkrishna

(b. 1991)

Yogesh Ramkrishna is a young visual art practitioner from Pune. He received his Bachelor’s in Fine Art – Painting from Sir J.J. School of Arts and Masters in visual arts in the Graphic Department from M.S. University of Baroda, Gujarat. During his master’s, he specialized in multiple methods of traditional and contemporary printmaking, drawing, installation and includes different levels of interactivity. His works convey his own perspectives towards our current socio-political condition, cultural propagandas and post-truth era behaviors of society. He articulates the friction between traditional Indian beliefs and urban Indian lifestyle as they come to terms with each other as well as simulate new identities and anxieties which rose during the pandemic. The visual content of his works becomes dramatic, comic-like, stylized mythically charged and sometimes, to an extent, erotic.

His previous group exhibitions include Anthology on the Annexe, at Gallery Amdavad di Gufa, Ahmedabad, Gujarat (2021); Reflective Reveries, at Archer Art Gallery , Ahmedabad, Gujarat (2020); When in Empathy too much, curated by Indira Prasad and Shubhani Sharma, at LATITUDE 28, New Delhi (2020); Intagelo, Online Printmaking Exhibition organised by Magelo Printmaking Studio, Australia (2020); The print and the Matrix, curated by Bhavana Kakar and Satyajit Dave at Sridharni Art Gallery, New Delhi (2020); Call to disorder, curated by Vidya Shivadas at Serendipity Arts Festival, Panjim, Goa (2019); Cartography of Narratives at Bikaner House by Gallery LATITUDE 28, New Delhi (2019); Babur Ki Gai, curated by Adwait Singh at LATITUDE 28, Delhi (2018); India Art Fair booth with Kanoria Art Centre Gallery, New Delhi (2017); A Confluence of Reformations show at Sir J.J.
