Neda Tavallaee
(b. 1973)
Neda Tavallaee spent her formative years in England, returning to Iran after the revolution amid the Iran-Iraq war. This profound shift, with its cultural and religious disparities, profoundly affected her perception of life both as a child and as a woman in the Middle East. As an artist, she chose to express her experience as an Iranian woman navigating this tumultuous era. Given the presence of religion and the numerous taboos in her culture, she began by internalizing her experiences. Persian culture’s multifaceted beauty compelled her; she immersed herself in poetry, music, and exquisite miniatures for inspiration. Her art has been exhibited worldwide with traditional paintings, alternative prints, and in recent years, NFTs.
Neda Tavallaee completed her B.F.A. from the Art University of Tehran in (2000). Global residencies enabled her to absorb different cultures, blending each experience into her creative palette. Neda currently resides in a serene garden in the Alborz province. Here, removed from Tehran’s hustle, she crafts her work. With her global influence, she has participated in numerous art exhibitions that have deeply resonated with audiences.
Her solo exhibition includes ‘The Peculiar Box’ curated by Patrice Vallette at Vallette Gallery, Malaysia (2021).
