Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo

1986, Bastar, Chhattisgarh

Juhika Devi Bhanj Deo is a practicing visual artist and educator whose work navigates the intersections of memory, identity, and material culture. Her practice stems from the metaphor of the “pocket,” a space that holds stories, beliefs, and social identities. Beginning with literal representations of pockets filled with objects, her work has evolved into abstract explorations of textiles, motifs, and layered compositions. Fabric, in particular, serves as a central narrative device in her practice, embodying both protection and prejudice, memory and transformation.

Through her artistic and academic practice, Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo continues to weave together the tangible and symbolic, exploring how personal and collective histories are encoded in fabric, color, and form, making textiles both witness and storyteller of lived experience.

Bhanjdeo holds a Master of Visual Arts in Painting from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2012) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at AURO University, Surat, where she also serves as Assistant Professor at the School of Design.
