Hemangini Maharaul

(b. 1990)

Hemangini Maharaul is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist. Through her practice, she explores notions of sustainability and vulnerability of our planetary ecosystems, primarily that of the Himalayan mountains. Titled ‘for the mountains, by the mountains, of the mountains’ is her on-going research based roman-fleuve of mixed media works, poetry, photographs and performance. 

Hemangini has been a part of Live Arts Residency, Apre Art House, Mumbai and Art For Change Residency, Mussoorie. Recent group exhibitions include ‘The Nature of Difference’, Centre For Imagination, Mussoorie (2023) and ‘The Contemporary Collectives’, Gallery Mayin Art, Bangalore (2019). She contributed as an artist and Speaker for ‘Art for Action’ at Lake of Stars Festival by UNDP, Chintheche, Malawi (2019). In 2018, she had a solo exhibition, ‘Progressive Art Bar’, Leela Palace, Bangalore. Maharaul dwells in the Himalayan mountains from time to time and is based out of Bangalore, India.
