Art Dubai is a pre-eminent platform for art from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. The artists from LATITUDE 28 represented in this art fair are particularly interested in the neo-miniature style of painting that are borne out of themes of despair and conflict. Waswo X Waswo, an American photographer and writer, known for his sepia canvasses, Sudipta Das, whose hanji paper sculptures explore ideas of ‘migration’ and ‘construction of history’, Radhika Agarwala, whose sculptures explore the idea of human-non-human interactions, Gopa Trivedi who attempts to address social and individual anxieties through using subversive idioms in abstract style, Waseem Ahmed, Pakistani contemporary miniature artist who has developed miniature paintings especially for Art Dubai this year, his works address semiotics of faith and Afghani artist, Khadim Ali who developed a series on his experience of being a migrant in Australia who has after 10 years received an official passport.
